Storybook Gardens is looking for enthusiastic individuals who would be interested in volunteering with us throughout the summer months. These volunteers will have the opportunity to make a positive impact on our visitors by providing a safe, courteous, and memorable experience. Learn more by visiting www.storybook.london.ca
 

Role: Under the direction of the Supervisor, Recreation Services, volunteers will support different attractions and may assist with facilitating interactive activities to enhance the guest experience at Storybook Gardens. This volunteer role is a part of a team that provides an excellent experience for children and their families.
Volunteer Responsibilities:
  • Work as part of a team to tidy program activity areas to ensure a clean and safe program activity area.
  • Assist in the delivery of interactive activities with children and families.
  • Support attractions during busy times i.e. line control – ensuring safety rules are enforced and handing out materials etc.
  • Help provide directions to guests as required.
  • Attend Volunteer orientation and training as required.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Experience working with children
  • Police Vulnerable Sector Check (PVSC) (Prior to the start of the position)
 
Skills and Abilities:
  • Ability to demonstrate good communication skills, high energy and enthusiasm 
  • Comfortable working outdoors in hot weather.
  • Demonstrate strong interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a team.
  • Must be comfortable working with children in a busy outdoor setting.
Storybook Gardens is open 7 days a week with varying hours. Volunteer shifts will typically occur from 10:00am-3:00pm but may extend into the evenings.
