Summary:

Role:

Reporting to the Manager or Guest Services Supervisor, Theme Park Staff at Storybook Gardens are responsible for providing a safe, courteous, and memorable experience for all visitors. These casual employees are part of a team that works in a public-facing, fast-paced environment to keep the park safe, clean, and ready for guests while delivering excellent customer service.

Theme Park Staff are not expected to fill every job at the park. Instead, staff may be scheduled in one or more areas depending on the season, business needs, skills and staff interests. Opportunities can include building attendants, food services, guest services, park animation, attractions, programming/special events, or seasonal skate cruiser roles. Work assignments vary throughout the year, allowing staff to gain experience in different parts of the park.

Job Responsibilities

  • Provide customer service to City of London patrons who attend Storybook Gardens.
  • Complete all required paperwork and reports as outlined by Supervisor.
  • Attend regular staff meetings as required by supervisor.
  • Demonstrate commitment to anti-racism, anti-oppression, and human rights through practices and interactions with community partners, employees and individuals and support programs and initiatives that reflect this commitment.
  • Demonstrate commitment and adherence to Health and Safety legislation and programs; actively promote a culture of safety.
  • Participate in all training as assigned.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned.

Building Attendants

  • Maintain cleanliness of public spaces including pathways, washrooms, eating areas, and high-traffic park zones including garbage removal, shoveling and backpack blowing. 
  • Assist with facility upkeep and set up/take down of equipment for daily operations or events.
  • Provide directional support and respond to guest inquiries.
  • CSA-approved safety footwear is required.
  • Ideal for applicants with strong attention to detail and pride in creating a welcoming environment. 

Food Services

  • Prepare, serve, and sell a variety of food and beverage items at seasonal concessions.
  • Operate point-of-sale systems, handle cash, and follow food safety guidelines.
  • Assist with stock rotation, cleaning, and maintaining a sanitary work environment.
  • Applicants should enjoy working in a kitchen/food environment and thrive in a fast-paced setting.

Guest Services

  • Act as the first point of contact for visitors by staffing admissions, information desks, or retail areas.
  • Provide assistance with ticketing, memberships, merchandise sales, and answering guest questions.
  • Handle cash, debit, and credit card transactions accurately.
  • Strong customer service and problem-solving skills are required for this role.

Park Animators

  • Provide live entertainment through singing, dancing, puppetry, storytelling, or mascot/character appearances.
  • Engage with children and families through scheduled performances and spontaneous interactions.
  • Assist with the preparation, setup, and coordination of entertainment features.
  • Previous performance experience or training is an asset.

Attractions

  • Safely operate such as carousel, train, jumping pillow, splash pad, waterslide, pedal cars and play spaces.
  • Complete daily ride inspections, follow safety protocols, and enforce park policies.
  • Conduct minor maintenance tasks and monitor equipment for safe operation.
  • CSA-approved safety footwear is required.

Programming & Special Events

  • Lead activities in themed play areas (e.g., Adventure Island, Gnorbert’s Garden, Play Village, Sand Play).
  • Deliver drop-off programs, day camps, or interactive workshops.
  • Assist with setting up and facilitation of special events and seasonal programs. 
  • Applicants with experience in creative programming or event planning are strongly encouraged to apply.

Seasonal Skate Cruisers

  • Provide customer service on the skate trail by assisting guests with equipment rentals, skate fitting, and trail safety.
  • Supervise the ice surface, enforce safety rules, and assist guests who may require first aid.
  • Perform routine checks and minor maintenance of skating equipment.
  • Applicants must be competent skaters and are required to wear a helmet. 
  • Applicants should be comfortable working outdoors in winter conditions and enjoy engaging with families.

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience working with children and families.
  • Standard First Aid and CPR C (prior to start of employment).
  • Criminal Matters Judicial Police Check (prior to start of employment).

Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of Xplor Recreation registration software (preferred).
  • Strong communication, enthusiasm, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Comfort in fast-paced, public-facing environments.
