Summary of Duties:

Works under the direction of the Supervisor or designate. Operates sanitation equipment; loads garbage refuse and other waste materials; transports and deposits at a designated site. Transport garbage and deposit at a designated site. Assist in setting up collection locations.

Main Duties:

  • Operates side/rear loading and fork lift garbage packer in a safe; efficient and proper manner.
  • Operates packer to unload 3 and 4 yard garbage containers.
  • Loads garbage, refuse and other waste materials from private and public property into side and rear
  • loading garbage packer.
  • Carries out regular inspection checks and service of equipment in accordance with maintenance procedures.
  • Makes out written time, maintenance and work reports.
  • Communicates effectively with the public pertaining to collection service issues.
  • As assigned, perform related duties which are transient, or of an emergency nature, or which are minor, but recurring.

Educations Qualifications:

  • Successful completion of Grade 12 in the Province of Ontario or equivalent.

Specialized Training & Licenses:

  • Valid Class DZ Driver’s Licence.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate equipment in this job class.
  • Working knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act.

Compensation & Other Information:

  • Positions consist of 40 hours per week for up to 26 weeks in duration.
  • Standard hours are from 7:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m., Monday to Friday. There is the potential to work shifts occurring on days, evenings, nights, and weekends in any of these areas.
  •  Rate of pay is $30.26 per hour + 4% in lieu of vacation
     

Please note: Successful candidates will be required to wear a respirator in this position and fit-testing will be provided.
