Summary of Duties:

Reporting to the Manager, Municipal Law Enforcement Services, the student’s primary responsibilities are:

  • Receives complaints sent by e-mail and voicemail to the City’s enforcement e-mail address and call-in line. Enters details concerning the complaints in the inspection database and generates inspection request documents
  • Maintains confidentiality of complainant’s personal information
  • Provides assistance with research and the compiling of information related to by-laws
  • Assists Municipal Law Enforcement Officers with the removal of signs on city property that contravene the Sign and Canopy By-law; or the Election Signs By-law
  • Assists Municipal Law Enforcement Officers with by-law investigations
  • Undertakes non-complex complaints under the Yard and Lot Maintenance By-law PW-15
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Student must be enrolled in an academic program related to Police Foundations, By-Law Enforcement, Law/Law clerk and/or a related discipline of study.

Must be a current student enrolled in full-time studies returning to school full-time September 2025 and/or require this placement to graduate from an academic program.

Specialized Training & Licenses:

  • Ability to work independently
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Experience working with the public
  • Familiarity with data bases, spreadsheet and work processing
  • Valid “G” driver’s license
  • Previous experience working with a municipality or another level of government is an asset

Compensation & Other Information:

$22.44/hour.

This posting is for two (2) temporary full-time up to 4 month student positions (May - September 2025).

Current hours of Work: Based off of a 35-hour work week. Shift work may be required. Subject to change.

Work Arrangement: In office/on site.
