Summary of Duties:

Reporting to the Manager of Plans Examination and working with the Plans Examination and Building Inspection teams, the student will be responsible for:

Assisting Manager of Plans Examination to keep permit statistics up-to-date.
Assisting in the review of plans for building permits with Plans Examiners.
Shadowing building inspectors at various stages of construction.
May be involved in preparation of AutoCad details.
Maintaining technical documentation library files.
Assisting in responding to inquiries from customers.
Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Currently enrolled in a College/University Architectural Technology, or related program.
Must be a current student enrolled in full-time studies returning to school full-time September 2026 and/or require this placement to graduate from anacademic program.

Specialized Training & Licenses:

Some experience with residential construction.
Understanding of the Ontario Building Code is preferred.
Computer knowledge (Microsoft Excel and Word) and AutoCad experience.
Enrolled in Architectural Technology Program.

Compensation & Other Information:

$23.11/hour.
This posting is for one (1) temporary full-time up to 4 month student position (May-September 2026).
Current hours of Work: Monday - Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Work Arrangement: In office/on-site.
