Summary:

Recreation programs provide all citizens the opportunity to improve self-esteem, motor skills, creativity, physical fitness, and social skills through a variety of crafts, arts, and physical activities.

Role:

Reporting to a Recreation Supervisor, the Program Site Leader welcomes you into our City of London programs at various sites across the City of London and provides directions, guidance and answers questions for program participants and visitors. This casual position works as part of a team in a public facing fast paced environment ensuring programs are run efficiently to meet the needs of the participants while providing excellent customer service to City of London patrons and volunteers.

Job Responsibilities

  • Create a welcoming environment for program participants and visitors.
  • Answer customer inquiries about programs and services and provide directions as needed to ensure participants arrive at their programming space.
  • Communicate regularly with participants, community partners and other staff members on requests, issues or concerns.
  • Lead and/or assist in high quality programming to ensure participants are fully engaged, having fun and safe.
  • Maintain inventory of program supplies and request supplies as required.
  • Assist with setting up and taking down equipment in program spaces.
  • Complete all required paperwork and reports as outlined by Supervisor.
  • Ensure all program staff complete documentation on a regular basis for attendance, accident reports etc.
  • Assist with distribution of promotional materials, parent evaluations and program literature as required.
  • Ensure that equipment and facilities are in safe working condition and report any concerns to the Program Coordinator/Supervisor.
  • Demonstrate excellent customer service skills and a positive and professional attitude when communicating with the public and co-workers.
  • Attend regular staff meetings as required by supervisor.
  • Demonstrate commitment to anti-racism, anti-oppression, and human rights through practices and interactions with community partners, employees and individuals and support programs and initiatives that reflect this commitment.
  • Demonstrate commitment and adherence to Health and Safety legislation and programs; actively promote a culture of safety.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Vulnerable Sector Police Check (VSPC) (Prior to the start of the program)
  • Standard First Aid (prior to the start of the program)
  • Two years’ experience in a recreation environment 
  • HIGH FIVE – Healthy Child Development Certificate, QUEST Certification (preferred – applies to Child/Youth Program Coordinators only)
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office software including publisher, excel and word.
  • Access to a vehicle at all times during scheduled working hours and proof of a valid driver’s license and car insurance.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to demonstrate good communication, high energy, enthusiasm and continued positive attitude.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Knowledge of behaviour modification techniques.
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a team.
  • Second language is an asset (please indicate on resume).
  • High level of comfort in fast paced public facing environments.

Other Information:

Starting Wage: $17.75 per hour
