Summary:
Recreation Facilities provide all citizens the opportunity to participate in recreation activities in a welcoming, clean, safe, and inclusive space.
Role:
Reporting to the on-site Supervisor, the Food Services Coordinator is responsible for providing a leadership role at City of London facilities to provide patrons with food and beverages in a safe and clean environment through coordinating and supervising food service operations. This casual position is responsible for daily supervision of Food Services Attendants, inventory management, proper food rotation and providing excellent customer service to City of London patrons and volunteers.
Job Responsibilities
- Assist with training and supporting new and returning staff.
- Set up and maintain food service areas to ensure the area is attractive, clean, and efficient.
- Monitor daily attendance, staffing schedules, and weather conditions to adjust staff requirements as necessary.
- Monitor inventory levels and order supplies as needed. Receive orders when they arrive.
- Complete point-of-sale transactions, daily balancing including associated paperwork.
- Prepare bank deposit information and ensure enough change is available.
- Maintain accurate records daily for inventory controls, timesheets, safety checks, accident and incident reports and operational evaluations.
- Comply with all Board of Health and Liquor License regulations.
- Prepare food for special events with large numbers.
- Adjust menus based on inventory and season.
- Assist with the preparation of food and beverages as needed.
- Ensure all staff complete documentation on a regular basis for attendance, accident reports etc.
- Assist in hiring front line staff, and with the development and delivery of front-line staff training programs.
- Act as a liaison between front line staff and supervisor to promote teamwork and clear lines of communication and to ensure health and safety requirements are met and reported in a timely manner.
- Assist with the completion of staff evaluations to ensure program is meeting high quality standards, program benefits, and compliance of staff policy and procedures.
- Demonstrate excellent customer service skills and a positive and professional attitude when communicating with participants, parents, the public, and co-workers.
- Complete all required paperwork and reports as outlined by Supervisor.
- Attend regular staff meetings as required by Supervisor.

- Demonstrate commitment and adherence to Health and Safety legislation and programs; actively promote a culture of safety.
- Perform other tasks as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Experience in a food service environment with a minimum of two years’ experience in a supervisory role.
- Safe Food Handling Certificate (prior to the start of employment)
- Standard First Aid (prior to the start of employment)
- Vulnerable Sector Police Check (VSPC) (prior to the start of employment)
- Smart Serve Certificate (prior to the start of employment)
- Valid G Driver’s License is required.
Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to demonstrate interpersonal and customer service skills.
- Ability to use Microsoft Office including Word and Excel, Point of Sale and Xplor.
- Ability to work independently and as a member of a team.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- High level of comfort in fast paced public facing environments.
- Knowledge of Board of Health and Liquor regulations.
Other Information:
Starting Wage: $18.25 per hour
