Summary:

Recreation Facilities provide all citizens the opportunity to participate in recreation activities in a welcoming, clean, safe, and inclusive space.

Role:

Reporting to a Supervisor, Recreation Services, the Food Services Attendant works to provide City of London patrons with food and beverages in a safe and clean environment. This casual position is responsible for preparing and serving meals, point of sale transactions, proper food rotation and providing excellent customer service.

Job Responsibilities

  • Set up and maintain food service areas to ensure cleanliness of tables and food service areas.
  • Prepare and serve food and beverages.
  • Ensure proper storage and rotation of food and beverages. 
  • Complete and accountable for all point-of-sale transactions, daily balancing including associated paperwork. 
  • Review menus, suggest menu ideas and discuss inventory quantities with Food Services Coordinator. 
  • Ensure all cash handling is completed in an accurate manner. 
  • Demonstrate excellent customer service skills and a positive and professional attitude when communicating with the public and co-workers.
  • Demonstrate commitment to anti-racism, anti-oppression, and human rights through practices and interactions with community partners, employees and individuals and support programs and initiatives that reflect this commitment. 
  • Demonstrate commitment and adherence to Health and Safety legislation and programs; actively promote a culture of safety.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Criminal Records Check (CRC) or Criminal Record and Judicial Matters Check (CRJMC) (prior to the start of employment)
  • Standard First Aid Certificate (prior to the start of employment)
  • Safe Food Handling Certificate (prior to the start of employment)
  • Smart Serve Certificate (prior to the start of employment) 
  • Kitchen experience is preferred.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to demonstrate interpersonal and customer service skills. 
  • Ability to use Microsoft Office including Word and Excel.
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a team. 
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills. 
  • High level of comfort in fast paced public facing environments. 
  • Knowledge of Board of Health and Liquor regulations.

Other Information:

Starting Wage: $17.20 per hour
