Summary:

Recreation Facilities provide all citizens the opportunity to participate in recreation activities in a welcoming, clean, safe, and inclusive space. 

Role:

Reporting to a Supervisor, Recreation Services, the Building Attendant position is responsible for ensuring a safe and clean, and functional operation inside and outside the facility. This casual position works as part of a team in a public facing fast paced environment assisting with set up and take down of programs and activities including moving equipment, cleaning, and maintaining the facility, and providing excellent customer service to City of London patrons.

Job Responsibilities

  • Assist with the set-up and take down of programs, special events and rentals including moving equipment. 
  • Carry out and document the cleaning of the facility, change rooms, washrooms and storage areas including duties such as sweeping and mopping per City of London Cleaning Protocols. 
  • Follow maintenance checklist and keep accurate records of work done. 
  • Demonstrate excellent customer service skills and a positive and professional attitude when communicating with the public and co-workers.
  • Change and empty garbage and recycling receptacles. 
  • Ensure washrooms are stocked with necessary supplies. 
  • Notify supervisory staff when building supplies need to be replenished. 
  • Shovel snow on sidewalks and around entry and exit points to maintain clearance as required to ensure public safety. 
  • Demonstrate commitment to anti-racism, anti-oppression, and human rights through practices and interactions with community partners, employees and individuals and support programs and initiatives that reflect this commitment. 
  • Demonstrate commitment and adherence to Health and Safety legislation and programs; actively promote a culture of safety.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Current Standard First Aid Certificate (prior to the start of employment)
  • Criminal Records Check (CRC) or Criminal Record and Judicial Matters Check (CRJMC) 

Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to demonstrate interpersonal and customer service skills. 
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a team. 
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills. 
  • High level of comfort in fast paced public facing environments. 
  • Knowledge of janitorial functions 
  • Ability to move furniture including tables and chairs.

Other Information:

CSA approved green patch footwear is required. 

Starting Wage: $17.20 per hour
