Summary:
Role:
Reporting to the Supervisor, Aquatics, the Aquatic Leadership Instructor- Advanced is responsible for preparing and delivering aquatic leadership courses such as National Lifeguard, Swim Instructor and Lifesaving Instructor courses. This casual position works as part of a team in a public facing fast paced aquatic environment providing high quality programs while providing excellent customer service.
Job Responsibilities
- Lead high quality aquatic leadership courses activities that meet the requirements of the governing body (ie Lifesaving Society)
- Supervise course participants and ensure safety at all times.
- Create and implement course plans with the support of resources provided by Lifesaving Society and Recreation and Sport Supervisors.
- Maintain daily records of attendance, accident reports, etc.
- Demonstrate excellent customer service skills and a positive and professional attitude when communicating with participants, parents, the public, and co-workers.
- Ensure that equipment and facilities are in safe working condition and report any concerns to the Aquatic Coordinator/Supervisor.
- Demonstrate commitment to anti-racism, anti-oppression, and human rights through practices and interactions with community partners, employees and individuals and support programs and initiatives that reflect this commitment.
- Demonstrate commitment and adherence to Health and Safety legislation and programs; actively promote a culture of safety.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by Supervisor.
Qualifications:
- Current Standard First Aid Certificate
- Current Lifesaving Society Swim Instructor (SI) Certificate
- Current Lifesaving Society Instructor (LSI) Certificate
- Current National Lifeguard Certificate
- Vulnerable Persons Police Screening
- Certification as required for the course being taught ie National Lifeguard Instructor/Examiner
- Life Saving Society Instructor Trainer
Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to demonstrate good communication, high energy, enthusiasm and continued positive attitude.
- Demonstrated interpersonal and customer service skills.
- Ability to work independently and as a member of a team.
- High level of comfort in fast paced public facing environments.
- Second language is an asset (please indicate on resume).
Other Information:
Starting Wage: $20.00 per hour
