Summary of Duties:

Reports to the Manager, Elections, Strategic Integration & Policy. Assists in all clerical functions related to the Municipal Election.

Work Performed:

  • Assists in providing election information to candidates and the general public by telephone, in person and by correspondence.
  • Assists in updating and maintaining electronic records and systems related to the Municipal Election.
  • Supports the recruitment and training of the Deputy Returning Officers, Poll Clerks, Election Assistants and Inspectors.
  • Assists in the determination, contracting and confirmation of all voting locations.
  • Performs a variety of clerical duties such as filing, checking, sorting, indexing and record keeping related to the Municipal Election.
  • Assists in ordering all necessary election supplies.
  • Prepares leffers, reports, statements and other documentation.
  • Receives, records and balances Elections Office cash receipts.
  • Operates standard office equipment.
  • Performs related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

One Year Ontario College Office Administration Certificate.

Experience:

Previous experience is an asset but is not required. 

Specialized Training & Licenses:

Skills and abilities in the following areas are necessary:

Basic knowledge of word processing, spreadsheets and various software.

Compensation & Other Information:

$35,938 - $51,281 (Level 4)

This posting is for two (2) temporary full-time up to 2 years positions.

These positions will commence June 2025.

Current hours of Work: Monday - Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Some evening and weekend work required leading up to the municipal election in 2026.

Work Arrangement: On-site.

These hours of work are subject to change in accordance with the Collective Agreement and may include evening hours and Saturdays.

NOTE: Applicants may be required to complete a job related test.
