Summary of Duties:
Reporting to the Manager of Storybook Gardens, the Park Programming Intern will support the planning, coordination, and development of new and enhanced programming initiatives at Storybook Gardens. This role will contribute to expanding year-round park programming, strengthening community engagement, and developing new revenue-generating opportunities.
Key areas of focus include the development of a proposed outdoor day camp program, coordination of school group and camp bookings, support for City of London and external camp field trips, and assistance with special events and seasonal programming such as Festival Fridays and community movie nights.
The intern will work collaboratively with the Recreation and Sport Division, including the Storybook Gardens Team, Programs Team and Day Camp Program Team, gaining hands-on experience in municipal recreation operations, program development, and event coordination while contributing to meaningful community-based experiences for children and families.
Work Performed:
- Assist in the planning, coordination, and development of new park programming offerings at Storybook Gardens.
- Support the creation of a proposal for a new outdoor day camp program, including program structure, schedules, staffing needs, and operational considerations.
- Assist with school group programming, group bookings, and on-site coordination for visiting schools, City of London camps, and external camps.
- Support planning and delivery of seasonal and special events, including Festival Fridays, community movie nights, and other park-based activities.
- Assist with site coordination and logistics related to programming, including space use, schedules, and activity setup.
- Support volunteer recruitment, onboarding, and training related to park programs and events.
- Assist with booking and coordinating entertainment, performers, and program facilitators for the park.
- Conduct research and benchmarking on best practices for municipal park programming and recreation delivery.
- Assist with the development of promotional materials, schedules, training resources, and internal documentation.
- Participate in budget tracking, attendance monitoring, and summary reporting for programs and events.
- Support internal communications, planning meetings, and contribute ideas to enhance participant and guest experience.

Compensation Information
$23.11/hr.
This posting is for (1) internship opportunity for a duration of up to 15 weeks.
This opportunity is scheduled to be in-person. Evening and weekend work may be required.
