Summary of Duties:

The City of London is currently recruiting a foreign trained professional who is working towards their accreditation as an Engineer. The program is aimed at developing engineering management expertise within the Service Area. The position reports to the Division Manager for purposes of assignments and career management, and reports to Development Engineers for specific work assignments.

Work Performed:

Under the direct supervision of an Engineer within the Service Area, the intern will review, analyze, and coordinate the acceptance of engineering drawings, reports and studies for a variety of planning and development applications.

Specific work assignments may include:

  • Reviews, analyzes and/or recommends acceptance of various engineering drawings, reports and studies for a variety of planning and development applications including subdivisions, condominiums, Official Plan and Zoning Bylaw amendments, site plans, minor variances and land severances.
  • Coordinates engineering comments and complete application requirements for a variety of inquiries, consultations and development proposals.
  • Serves in a liaison capacity between the Planning and Development division and other internal divisions, external agencies and professionals, coordinating information related to drawings, requirements and specifications, agreements, and regulations.
  • Prepares pertinent clauses, conditions, claims and revenue estimates for subdivision and development agreements.
  • Reviews, monitors security and ensures compliance of subdivision and development agreements.
  • Works individually or as a team on continuous improvement projects within the Planning and Development division
  • References and applies the design/drawing standards in the City of London Standard Contract Documents Manual and City of London Design Specifications and Requirements Manual.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Candidates must be a graduate of a recognized post-secondary education institute with Canadian equivalency with a Bachelor of Engineering degree (Civil or Environmental) from a university recognized by the P.E.O. Candidates must also be working on obtaining accreditation as an Engineer and have experience working as an Engineer in their home country.

Experience:

It is preferable that candidates will have some experience working in an engineering or technical environment including experience with designing and/or reviewing site servicing, stormwater and other technical drawings and studies for private development and municipal infrastructure.

Compensation & Other Information:

$60,000 annually

This posting is for one (1) temporary full-time up to 12 month position.

Current hours of Work: Monday - Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Work Arrangement: Hybrid. Subject to change in accordance with business requirements.

These hours of work are subject to change in accordance with the Collective Agreement and may include evening hours and Saturdays.
