Summary of Duties:

Reporting to the Manager, Geospatial Infrastructure Systems, Geomatics, the Geospatial Infrastructure Systems Analyst develops and/or assists with the implementation of business solutions in support of Corporate Geospatial Information Systems (GIS) and Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) with responsibility for the project management and delivery of geospatial data creation, editing, management and analysis as well as the production of maps and a wide-range of geospatial related products. 

Work Performed:

  • Develop and maintain Geospatial Data Models as they apply to corporate GIS Asset Registry. 
  • Provide accurate spatial analysis on a wide range of geospatial datasets including land base, water, wastewater, sewer, roads and transportation, streetlights, and traffic signals to support a broad range of corporate needs. 
  • Assist in business process reviews leading to recommendations for process change including new or improved business systems, liaising with Information Technology Services for Implementation. 
  • Analyze problems and/or existing workflows and develop methods to improve the effectiveness of geospatial systems through scripting, geoprocessing workflows and tools. 
  • Recommend to supervisor, managers and external vendors adjustments and modifications to geospatial systems and tools; liaise with vendors regarding changes as required. 
  • Instruct and advise project team members on matters related to assignments, and lead projects as assigned. 
  • Participate in Geomatics and program level reviews as they relate to geospatial systems and make recommendations regarding scheduling and long-term planning. 
  • Evaluate the ongoing effectiveness of geospatial systems (GIS & CMMS), recommending improvements in both systems and methods to Geomatics and other user groups. 
  • Provide input for the development and administration of standards and guidelines for geospatial data management, data collection and acquisition (topo, orthophotography), training, data modeling, performance indicators (KPI) and related metrics. 
  • Review, evaluate and assess software products and related tools. 
  • Develop training materials and train staff within and outside the Division who use geomatics data, in areas including GIS Software (ArcGIS), work order management software (Cityworks), various custom applications that leverage spatial data (Citymap, Sewer GIS, Water GIS). 
  • Maintain spatial data and system integrity where GIS is integrated with corporate systems. Monitor and support the enterprise GIS solutions with minimal disruption 
  • Maintain current knowledge of GIS and CMMS technology, through continuous formal and self learning programs. 
  • Manage smaller projects on behalf of the Geospatial Infrastructure Systems group or Geomatics group. 
  • Collaborate with and provide guidance to GIS data stewards across the Corporation in support of the Corporation’s integrated applications utilizing GIS, CMMS (City Works) and the Capital Asset Management System (CAMS). 
  • Apply Quality Assurance/Quality Control procedures to ensure accuracy, reliability, and compliance with corporate and legislated standards. 
  • Complete related duties as required. 

Qualifications:

Completion of a four-year degree with a major in Geographics Information Systems, OR a three year degree or community college diploma combined with a one-year Certificate in Geographic Information Systems.

Experience:

Three years of previous related experience.

Specialized Training & Licenses:

  • Demonstrated proficiency in GIS and related software. 
  • Knowledge of GIS data management practices. 
  • Understanding of Cityworks or similar CMMS systems. 
  • Valid Driver’s licence - Class G 

Compensation & Other Information:

$58,149 - $84,127 (Level 13)

This posting is for one (1) permanent full-time position.

Current hours of Work: Monday - Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. 

Work Arrangement: In Office. Subject to change in accordance with business requirements.

These hours of work are subject to change in accordance with the Collective Agreement and may include evening hours and Saturdays.
