Summary of Duties:

Reporting to the Corporate Energy Manager, the Energy Analyst prepares, processes and analyzes required information and completes other functions pertaining to the Corporation’s energy portfolio, including on-site data collection, preparing and processing related reports for other internal interest-holders and providing energy-related technical and administrative support to the Facilities Division.

Work Performed:

  • Prepares detailed consumption and demand analyses involving weather data.
  • Supports Energy and Sustainability initiatives by isolating facilities of interest on an exception basis for additional scrutiny or to identify energy efficiency projects.
  • Assists with the completion of energy rate and consumption forecasts.
  • Generates multiple energy and financial reports, budget forecast and variance analysis, completing verifications and collecting information from numerous sources.
  • Maintains the integrity of Corporate Energy databases and associated software applications.
  • Reconciles utility billing consumption and cost to rate schedules.
  • Prepares and processes Accounts Payables for payment to suppliers ensuring accuracy, completeness and compliance with established guidelines, procedures and contracts.
  • Assists Supervisors and Managers in providing cost and statistical information for budget preparation and monitoring purposes.
  • Liaises with internal and external parties regarding invoicing inquiries, Corporate policy on payment processing/receiving and other accounts payable/receivable related matters.
  • Provides ongoing liaison with other divisions and Boards and Commissions to address energy consumption and related issues.
  • Works in the field conducting studies and surveys of various facilities.
  • Liaises with employees from other Divisions/Service Areas for the purpose of obtaining/providing facility information and determining energy requirements for related operational needs.
  • Assists with gathering engineering drawings of facilities to offer high-level interpretation of engineering drawings in support of energy analysis and efficiency improvements, as requested.
  • Liaises with consultants and contractors to perform project management functions regarding   energy studies and related energy management activities.
  • Performs energy modeling on existing assets to evaluate feasibility and performance in support of energy conservation and retrofit initiatives.
  • Provides data regarding energy usage and projections and assists in forecasting future energy demands and costs in support of energy planning and budgeting.
  • Identifies energy conservation and retrofit projects for review and consideration by the Manager that will reduce operating costs and greenhouse gas emissions.
  • Performs related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Successful completion of a three-year advanced Community College Diploma as a Mechanical or Electrical Technologist or equivalent in a related field.

Experience:

One year of previous related work experience is required.

Specialized Training & Licenses:

Skills and abilities in the following areas are necessary:

  • Demonstrated ability to use Microsoft Office Suite products including spreadsheets and related software.
  • Demonstrated effective customer service skills.
  • Ability to navigate and apply utility‑tracking and analytics software to monitor usage, validate data, and compile necessary information for decision-making.
  • Ability to clearly communicate technical information using visual tools such as charts, diagrams, and dashboards to support understanding and decision-making.
  • Ability to communicate technical requirements to consultants and others, verbally and in writing. 
  • Valid Class G Driver’s Licence and ability to attend site visits throughout the City of London.

Compensation & Other Information:

$53,202 - $75,375 (Level 10)
This posting is for one permanent full-time position being filled on a permanent basis.
Current hours of Work: Monday - Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Work Arrangement: Hybrid. Subject to change in accordance with business requirements.

These hours of work are subject to change in accordance with the Collective Agreement and may include evening hours and Saturdays.
