Summary of Duties:

Reporting to a Manager, the Culture, Entertainment and Marketing Assistant provides administrative, operational, marketing and promotional support to tourism initiatives.

Work Performed:

  • Supports the Manager and the Tourism London team by providing input to the development of the annual marketing strategy and operational plan.
  • Coordinates and executes targeted promotions and marketing campaigns, across digital and traditional channels, including strategy, creative asset development (in conjunction with designers), communication, measurement and reporting.
  • Maintains and develops new relationships with key partners including members, community groups, industry organizations, agencies, photographers, videographers and social influencers.
  • Works with the Manager to develop written content and help to manage updates for the Tourism London website and specific sections of the website.
  • Coordinates communication and marketing content for Tourism London.
  • Develops, implements and provides input to the evaluation of communication plans and marketing strategies for Tourism London and Tourism London partners; and liaises with others in Tourism London to share ideas and resources.

  • Updates and maintains Tourism London’s photo and video asset library (in conjunction with other departments), archiving older assets, adding suggestions to shot lists and sourcing content for use in marketing activities.
  • Utilizes data management tools for sourcing new images for use on Tourism London’s social channels and website.
  • Proofreads media releases, social media and other published documents.  Contributes and uploads online images to various communication venues including social media.
  • Contributes content and assists in editing the monthly consumer newsletter and annual visitor guide. This includes coordinating advertising within the annual visitor guide.
  • Creates content and coordinates interactions on Tourism London’s social media channels.
  • Prepares and distributes visitor and other information kits and other support service requirements for tourism programs across traditional and digital media and platforms.
  • Ensures online content calendar for social media is accurate and up to date.

  • Assists other Tourism London staff to use marketing/promotions software, procedures and marketing/communication initiatives.
  • Sources and prepares contact lists, compiles information, processes inquiries, maintains records and files, collects and formats data, and completes related tasks.
  • Assists with set-up and operation of temporary information booths/centres at conventions, familiarization tours, entertainment, sports, leisure, municipal and other promotional and event-based activities.
  • Maintains up-to-date knowledge of marketing trends.
  • Performs related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

A minimum of a two-year community college program in Marketing, Communications or Tourism-related program

Experience:

minimum of three months of related experience

Specialized Training & Licenses:

  • Excellent oral and written communications skills.
  • Attention to detail; proofreading proficiency.
  • Proficiency in social media, digital platforms and specialty programs (ex. Crowdriff) an asset.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of website, social media and marketing analytics tools.
  • Ability to work evening or weekend job-related duties, as required.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and related programs. 
  • Valid Driver's License - Class G.

Compensation & Other Information:

$40,328 - $58,583 (Level 6)

This posting is for 1 permanent full-time position.

Current hours of Work: Monday - Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. 

Work Arrangement: Hybrid. Subject to change in accordance with business requirements.

These hours of work are subject to change in accordance with the Collective Agreement and may include evening hours and Saturdays.
